The Dual Evaporator
Yes, the humble fridge that we
all take for granted, but use on a daily basis. Fridges consist of two major
components: an evaporator coil and a condenser coil. A liquid coolant goes
through these coils with a motor and a compressor. The coolant is than cooled
in the condenser and passes to the evaporator. Once the coolant has reached the
evaporator, it cools the air that comes in contact with the coolant filled
coil. An evaporator coil is inside the housing of the fridge, while the
condenser is located at the back of the unit.
The Float Valve
Next we have the float valve, which resides in that
thing called a cistern (water tank) in every bathroom where there’s a toilet.
Float valves in a cistern play a major role in the prevention of the overflow
of water. Float valves regulate water flow in the toilet. When the water level
in the cistern drops after a flush, the float valve inside it also drops, then
a valve opens and water starts to refill the tank. As the water rises, so does
the float device and as the water level reaches a certain height, the valve
shuts off and the water is then stopped.

A re-bar is short for a “reinforcing bar”, which is a
steel bar or reinforced steel mesh used as a tension mechanism in reinforced

The CPU produces heat that is thermally transferred to the heat spreader
on the CPU, then the heat spreader spreads the heat load over a large surface. There
are different kinds of heat sinks, standard fin, heat pipe, and water blocks. These
devices are used to transfer the heat from the heat spreader to a dissipation
point. Since air itself is a poor heat conductor, a thermal compound is used to
fill the air gaps between the heat spreader and the heat sink, which then
reduces a heat build-up. An air cooled heat sink transfers the heat to cooling
fins and the fan forces cooler air over the fins picking up the heat and pushing
it away from the heat source.
